St. George’s Day 2017

Hi Everyone

It is hard to believe that a month has passed since St. George’s Day. It has been quite a month!

We would like to thank you all for participating in the festivities–bidding on the auctions, donating prizes, donating beer, buying beer and, of course, drinking beer and celebrating England.

We are happy to say that we raised $3,800 to be shared by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Prostate Cancer Canada.

That means we have raised more than $25,000 over the years for charity!

The funds will be split between the charities but your receipt will come from Prostate Cancer Canada as the funds raised through the auctions will be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Thanks to Maz, Julian and Nick for your continued support.

Many thanks

Robert and Caroline

Cask! Social at Birreria Volo – May 6th 2017

Thanks to all who attended the 2017 St. George’s Day dinner at the Granite Brewery. An oodle or two of cash was raised to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Prostate Cancer Canada, and we hope you had a good time as well.

At that event we announced that our next CASK! Social will be held at Birreria Volo on Saturday May 6 2017, from 2 to 5 pm. For the handful of you who may not yet have visited this relatively new spot, it’s at 612 College Street, Toronto, near Grace Street, practically next door to the Royal Cinema. Shortly before Bar Volo’s demise last year, we held a farewell Social there, so it’s appropriate now that we visit Son of Volo, run by Tomas and Julian, the sons of Ralph Morana. No one has done more for cask ale in Toronto than the Morana family, so we know we’re in good hands.

Many of you may have known our fellow Cask! member and friend, Roger Pettet. Sadly, Roger died earlier this week. It will seem strange to hold a CASK! Social without him. This will be neither the first nor the last opportunity to raise a glass to Roger, but be assured that he will be much on our minds. Glasses will be raised and stories will be swapped.

We’ll let you know when we hear details about which casks will be on offer.

See you there!
